Zimbabwean Defender Ronald Pfumbidzai Leaves SuperSport United and Joins Ambitious Scottland FC in Search of More Playing Time

Zimbabwean defender Ronald Pfumbidzai has embarked on a new chapter in his football career. After not making much of an impact at Betway Premiership side SuperSport United, Pfumbidzai is set to leave the club.

Pfumbidzai spent most of the 2023/24 season as a substitute at SuperSport United. Although he joined the team in July 2023 from Chippa United, his time there was marked by limited opportunities on the field.

The 29-year-old was ultimately among the players who did not secure a place in the squad for the upcoming season.

 New Beginnings at Scottland FC

To reignite his career and gain more playing time, Pfumbidzai has signed with Scottland FC, a promising team in Zimbabwe. Scottland FC, competing in the Northern Region Division One, is a strong contender for promotion to Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Though the specifics of Pfumbidzai’s contract are not disclosed, his move is seen as a step towards revitalizing his football journey.

Joining a Competitive Squad

At Scottland FC, Pfumbidzai will join a roster that includes former Kaizer Chiefs defender Lincoln Zvasiya and ex-Jomo Cosmos midfielder Denver Mukamba.

The club, owned by Scott Sakupwanya, is actively seeking top talent to secure a PSL promotion.

Departures and New Additions at SuperSport United

SuperSport United has also undergone significant changes.

The club has parted ways with several players, including Keegan Allan, Shandre Campbell, and Jesse Donn.

Notably, Shandre Campbell has moved to Club Brugge in Belgium, marking a major sale for the team.

Meanwhile, SuperSport United has made some new acquisitions.

Nyiko Mobbie, known for his versatility in defense, and experienced forward Vincent Pule have joined the squad. Goalkeeper Ricardo Goss has returned on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, and Pogisho Sanoka has been secured from TS Galaxy.

Deal with Keagan Dolly Falls Through

One notable development was the failed signing of Keagan Dolly.

Despite completing medical tests and being ready to finalize the deal, the transfer fell through due to coach Gavin Hunt’s decision, as confirmed by club CEO Stan Matthews.
