A heartbreaking incident unfolded on a busy street in London, where an 18-year-old girl lost her life after being struck by a car.

The accident occurred while she was crossing the road in Plaistow.

Witnesses report that a Nissan Juke was speeding down Barking Road out of control when the tragedy happened yesterday afternoon.

Emergency Response

First responders were quick to arrive at the scene, with emergency crews making it within just two minutes.

Despite their efforts, the young woman was tragically pronounced dead on-site.

The driver of the Nissan, a 45-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in police custody.

Authorities are now reaching out for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to step forward.

Eyewitness Accounts and Investigation

CCTV footage has surfaced, showing a vehicle racing along the pavement at a dangerously high speed, with debris flying into the air.

The crash site near Barking Road revealed a severely damaged car, its airbags deployed, parked in front of a local café.

To assist with their investigation, police set up a blue tent at the scene and cordoned off a section of Greengate Street.

Official Statements

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service shared, “We received a call at 3:44 PM yesterday regarding a road traffic collision in Barking Road, Plaistow.

We dispatched several resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer, members of our Tactical Response Unit, and London’s Air Ambulance.

Our first team arrived in just two minutes. We treated two individuals at the scene before prioritizing the transport of a man to the hospital.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, the woman did not survive.”

Traffic Disruptions

Following the crash, Transport for London reported that four routes were impacted but have since reopened.
