In a proactive move to curb vandalism in Lagos, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two suspected vandals for their involvement in stealing fabricated metal drainage covers.
The incident took place in the early hours of Tuesday, September 26, 2023, in the Ikate area of Lekki.
Swift Action by RRS Operatives
The suspects, identified as Jubreel Haruna, aged 29, and Adewale Rabiu, aged 27, were caught red-handed in the act of loading the stolen metal drainage covers onto a mini bus with the registration number KTU 45 YD.
The RRS operatives, conducting a routine patrol of Freedom Way in Ikate, Lekki, promptly intervened and apprehended the culprits.
Details of the Arrest
A statement issued by the RRS provided insight into the arrest, stating that the suspects were in the process of loading the drainage covers into the mini bus when the law enforcement officers intercepted them.
The immediate response of the RRS operatives thwarted the criminal act.
Legal Proceedings Initiated
Following their apprehension, Jubreel Haruna and Adewale Rabiu have been charged to court for prosecution.
This action aligns with the directives of the Commander of RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi. The Lagos State Police Command remains committed to combating vandalism and ensuring the safety and security of its communities.
