While cheering on his fellow Team GB divers at the Paris Olympics, British diving star Tom Daley was once again spotted indulging in his favorite pastime—knitting.
Daley, fresh off his silver medal win in the men’s synchronized 10m platform with Noah Williams, was seen with his knitting gear in the stands, providing support to Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix and Lois Toulson as they clinched bronze in the women’s event.
Daley, a five-time Olympic medallist, continued his unique tradition of knitting poolside. Cameras caught him working on what appeared to be a cupholder.
Just a few days earlier, he was seen knitting cardigans while supporting Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew, who also secured a bronze in the women’s synchronized 3m springboard.
This isn’t a new habit for Daley, as he was frequently seen knitting during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, cheering on teammates like Jack Laugher.
Tom Daley has proudly displayed his knitting skills over the years, sharing various creations such as a cream garment adorned with the Team GB logo in 2021.
He even reunited with his husband, Dustin Lance Black, in Canada to continue knitting, with a sweet image capturing him working on his latest project alongside their son Robbie.
Daley has often spoken about the calming effect knitting has on him during competitions. He even set up an Instagram page, “Made With Love By Tom Daley,” to showcase his creations.
Reflecting on his experience, Daley said, “When we went to Japan for the test event, I took my knitting with me and did it during my competition. Sometimes there’s a 45-minute wait between dives, so I’d knit to take my mind off the competition completely. I’m obsessed!”
Celebrating Success
After earning a silver medal in the men’s 10m event with Noah Williams, Daley shared how special this year felt. “19 months ago, I was sitting on my sofa doing nothing.
Deciding to come back because my son wanted to see me at the Olympics, and now to be here with a silver medal, diving with Noah, and in front of my family, it’s really special,” he said.
Family Moments
Dustin Lance Black, Daley’s husband, celebrated the achievement with a series of heartwarming family photos on Instagram. Their sons, Robbie and Phoenix, wore T-shirts that read “That’s My Papa” with a photo of Daley, proudly watching from the stands.
Daley beamed while showing off his medal, cuddling his youngest son, and draping Robbie in a Union Jack flag. Black, visibly emotional, captioned the post, “Spectacularly special day.”
Tom Daley’s knitting not only provides him with relaxation but also brings joy and support to his loved ones, making his Olympic journey even more memorable.
