SuperSport United Pursues Former Kaizer Chiefs Striker Samir Nurkovic to Strengthen Attack Before Transfer Deadline in South Africa

As the transfer deadline looms, SuperSport United is making a strong push to sign Samir Nurkovic, who recently parted ways with TS Galaxy.

The 32-year-old striker left Galaxy last week by mutual agreement, driven by his desire to secure a more prominent starting role—something the Rockets couldn’t promise him.

Nurkovic’s Impact and SuperSport’s Strategy

Despite being used mainly as a substitute last season, Nurkovic still managed to net 10 goals, showcasing his ability to make a difference on the pitch.

With Bradley Grobler currently injured, SuperSport is eager to bring in an experienced striker to strengthen their offensive lineup.

SuperSport head coach Gavin Hunt has confirmed that discussions with Nurkovic and his representatives are already underway.

“The transfer window closes tomorrow, and we need to bring in one or two new players.

We’re hoping to finalize something before then,” Hunt said.

Hunt also noted that Nurkovic could be a great fit for their playing style.

“Does he fit our style? Well, if our style didn’t work, why do other clubs keep signing our players?” he remarked, hinting at the importance of bringing in someone who can complement the team’s tactics.

With a game coming up this Saturday, Hunt emphasized the urgency of the situation.

“We’re struggling up front and have had to use midfielders in attacking positions. It’s a real issue for us,” he explained.

SuperSport is also keeping an eye on Orlando Pirates forward Zakhele Lepasa as another potential option to bolster their attack.

Kaizer Chiefs and Magesi in Talks Over Mthethwa Loan

In another transfer update, Kaizer Chiefs and Magesi FC are in advanced negotiations regarding a loan deal for midfielder Sibongiseni ‘Ox’ Mthethwa.

With the transfer window closing this Friday night, both teams are racing to finalize the agreement.

Mthethwa, who joined Chiefs from Stellenbosch just a year ago, has found himself on the outskirts of new coach Nasreddine Nabi’s plans.

With Nabi preferring younger players like Samkelo Zwane and Yusuf Maart, and with Njabulo Blom returning from MLS, Mthethwa’s opportunities at Chiefs have become increasingly limited.

Both clubs are working quickly to secure the loan deal, aiming to give Mthethwa a chance to shine elsewhere while Chiefs continue to adjust their squad.
