SuperSport United defender Lyle Lakay confident that Vincent Pule will overcome injuries and prove his worth in the Tshwane-based team

SuperSport United has long been a competitive force in the Betway Premiership, consistently delivering strong performances year after year.

But like many teams, they have to balance their financial books, often losing key players in the process.

Despite these challenges, they always seem to bring in new talent that can step up when called upon.

This season, the Tshwane-based club bid farewell to Shandre Campbell, a vital player in their squad last season.

Campbell, who played a significant role by scoring five goals and assisting six in 30 matches across all competitions, was snapped up by Belgian giants Club Brugge.

While losing such a key player was a blow, SuperSport has turned to fresh faces to keep the momentum going.

Lakay Believes in Pule’s Comeback

Among the new arrivals at Matsatsantsa is Vincent Pule, a player with undeniable talent but who has struggled with injury setbacks in recent seasons.

After parting ways with Orlando Pirates in July, Pule joined SuperSport as a free agent, hoping for a fresh start.

His time at Pirates was marked by brilliance but also injury-induced interruptions, leaving many questioning whether he could return to his best form.

However, SuperSport’s Lyle Lakay is confident that Pule can silence his critics this season.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns defender spoke highly of Pule’s abilities, backing him to prove his doubters wrong and make a significant impact at the club.

A Strong Start for Pule

Pule has already shown flashes of his potential since joining SuperSport.

He made an immediate impact by scoring on his debut in the MTN8, and that goal was particularly special as it came against his former team, Orlando Pirates.

So far, Pule has made three appearances for SuperSport in all competitions, showing signs that he could be a key player in their campaign.

Lakay emphasized that despite the loss of Campbell, the club has brought in quality players like Pule who can fill the void.

“We’ve replaced the players we lost with some quality players. We lost Shandre, it’s evident he was key for us, but we replaced him with a guy like [Vincent] Pule,” said Lakay in an interview.

A Veteran Presence for SuperSport

In addition to his skills on the field, Pule’s experience as a senior player is seen as a huge asset to the team.

Lakay praised the value Pule brings to the squad, both as a player and a leader.

“He adds great value to the team, I think he will do well this season and should prove his doubters wrong by scoring goals and providing assists,” Lakay added.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Pule to see if he can return to his peak and help SuperSport maintain their competitive edge.
