Celebrating Independence and Heritage

These events are held at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru, marking the founding of the Basotho Nation by the esteemed Morena Moshoeshoe I, alongside the celebration of the nation’s independence.

Honoring Basotho Heritage

During the festivities, President Ramaphosa is set to deliver remarks highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the Basotho people.

His speech will pay tribute to the remarkable contributions of Morena Moshoeshoe I and his lasting influence on the citizens of Lesotho.

The South African Presidency has emphasized the importance of this occasion as a moment to reflect on the nation’s history.

Strong Ties Between Two Nations

The relationship between South Africa and the Kingdom of Lesotho is characterized by strong, cordial ties and collaboration across various sectors, including water management.

These strong connections underscore the mutual respect and cooperation that exists between the two nations.

Temporary Leadership in South Africa
