The Rhema Bible Church has shared details regarding the funeral and memorial services for their beloved spiritual leader, Pastor Ray McCauley.
His son, Pastor Joshua McCauley, revealed that his father passed away peacefully at the age of 75 at their home on Tuesday, October 8.
Funeral Arrangements
According to Zimoja, Pastor Raynor “Ray” McCauley, who founded Rhema Bible Church, will be laid to rest on Saturday, October 19.
The church, based in Randburg, will host another memorial service to honor Pastor McCauley on Thursday, October 17.
The church announced in a statement, “At 7 PM on October 17, there will be an honoring service at Rhema Bible Church.
This event will provide a platform for Pastor Ray’s friends and dignitaries to share their memories, celebrate, and pay tribute to his life.
The service is open to the public and will also be live-streamed on YouTube.”
Additionally, the church expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support and love shown during this difficult time.
They noted, “We understand that many wish to attend, and we are working on providing additional viewing locations across South Africa. More details will follow soon.”

In a public statement, President Cyril Ramaphosa reflected on the loss, saying, “Pastor Ray’s passing leaves our deeply spiritual nation bereft of a remarkable leader whose impressive legacy lives on in the faith of hundreds of thousands of believers within and beyond the Rhema community. May his soul rest in peace.”
Thuli Madonsela also shared her sorrow, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Pastor Ray McCauley.
I will always remember him as a pioneer of inclusive worship long before others and a leader steadfast in matters of integrity in state affairs.
My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, the Rhema family, and the faith community.”

Members of the Rhema Church have gathered in Randburg for a comfort service in honor of their late pastor, reflecting on his impact on their lives and the community.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) also joined in mourning, recognizing Pastor McCauley’s significant role in South Africa, where he led Rhema to become one of the largest churches in the country, boasting a membership of over 50,000.
