Former soccer star Alton Meiring, known for his incredible achievements on the pitch, has sadly passed away.
His death was confirmed by his former club, Mamelodi Sundowns, through an official statement.

Alton Meiring, a former Bafana Bafana striker, passed away on Sunday in Cape Town at the age of 48.
Meiring holds a unique record in South African soccer history, having scored goals for nine different Premiership Soccer League clubs. His untimely death was first reported by iDiski Times.
“Former Bafana Bafana striker Alton Meiring has sadly passed away.
The 48-year-old, who earned two caps for the national team, played for clubs including Mamelodi Sundowns, Moroka Swallows, Jomo Cosmos, Golden Arrows, and Manning Rangers.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends,” the report said.
His scoring record includes goals for some of the biggest clubs in the league, including AmaZulu, Golden Arrows, Moroka Swallows, Cape Town Spurs, Sundowns, and many more.
Mamelodi Sundowns’ Statement
Mamelodi Sundowns, affectionately known as Kabo Yellow, also paid tribute to their former player.
In their heartfelt message, they expressed sorrow and offered condolences to Meiring’s family during this difficult time.
“The Chairman, the Motsepe Family, the Board of Directors, Technical Team, Players, and the entire Sundowns community send their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Alton Meiring as we mourn his loss.
“During his career, Meiring played for top-flight teams such as AmaZulu, Jomo Cosmos, Hellenic, Golden Arrows, and Moroka Swallows.
We pray for strength and comfort for his loved ones, friends, and former teammates.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Meiring family. Rest in Peace, Alton,” the statement concluded.
