In a heartbreaking turn of events, Shannon Amos has opened up about the pain of being unable to say goodbye to her father, John Amos.
In a candid conversation, she accused her brother, Kelly Christopher “K.C.” Amos, of isolating the beloved actor for what she perceives as a cruel game.
The anguish is palpable as Shannon shares her emotions, feeling blindsided by the news of her father’s passing.
John Amos, who passed away on August 21 at the age of 84, had his death publicly announced only on October 1.
Shannon, along with other family members, was devastated to learn about his death through the media. K.C. had been the sole point of contact with their father in the months leading up to his passing, which followed a public feud between him and Shannon that included allegations of elder abuse.
Accusations and Isolation
Speaking exclusively with DailyMail.com, Shannon expressed her fears that her father may have died alone.
She accused K.C. of moving John around to prevent family contact, saying, “I believe my brother is a sociopath or psychopath… this is all a game to him.”
In contrast, K.C. claimed John died of natural causes in Los Angeles.
The situation took a somber turn when TMZ obtained John’s death certificate, revealing that he had been cremated just nine days after his death, on August 30.
The document also confirmed K.C. was in possession of John’s ashes and that no autopsy had been performed.
The cause of death was listed as congestive heart failure, with K.C. identified as the person who informed authorities of his father’s passing.
A Family Divided
Reflecting on their strained relationship, Shannon shared that the last time she saw her father was in October 2023.
She described how K.C. had made it nearly impossible for the family to reach John over the past year by changing phone numbers and ignoring their emails.
“We emailed him some time ago, reminding him that my father needed his pacemaker changed. He likely didn’t even do that, and now we’ll never know the truth,” she lamented.
This family feud, which has been making headlines for years, escalated when Shannon accused her brother of elder abuse in 2023.
An investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department was launched but was closed after John denied her claims and no evidence was found.
In a twist, John later alleged that Shannon had taken advantage of him, leading to accusations that K.C. had coached their father to make that statement.
Struggles for Help
Shannon expressed her frustration at the difficulties in getting authorities to intervene, saying, “The problem with all of these agencies… There’s no national registry for Adult Protective Services, just like there’s no national registry for Child Protective Services.”
She reiterated that K.C. had been moving John to avoid scrutiny about his care.
This pattern of isolation reportedly mirrored the battle Shannon faced when their mother passed away in 2016, as she accused K.C. of similar tactics then.
“It has been 24 years of legal suffering, pain [and] worrying about my parents,” Shannon revealed.
“And I think the only semblance of peace that I have right now is knowing that both of them are free.”
Last Goodbyes
Shannon tearfully recalled her last moments with her father, remembering her visits in July 2022 and October 2023.
During one visit, she had to sneak into the hospital in Memphis because K.C. had barred family members from visiting. “I walked every floor, and by the grace of God, I found my father in the hallway.
He didn’t recognize me at first, and that’s when I realized how bad this dementia was,” she shared.
As the family processes this tragic news, Shannon conveyed that they are filled with anger and grief.
“Since October 2023, I’ve literally been grieving not being able to see him, not being able to talk to him because he was isolated from all family members and friends,” she explained.
Family’s Fight for Connection
John’s niece, Sherri Korsun Scott, echoed Shannon’s sentiments, stating that K.C. had cut off communication with family members despite their attempts to reach out.
“He would not give us; Shannon, me, anybody else in the family, any word on him or any way to speak to him,” she noted, adding that this fallout has nearly overshadowed John’s legacy.
Alisha Noelle Ford, John’s granddaughter, shared how painful the estrangement was, given their family’s close-knit nature.
“Uncle Sonny [his family nickname] offered a lot of different cousins different experiences. He paid for my college. He let people live with him,” she reminisced.
She further emphasized that the family had been actively trying to connect with John, despite being blocked at every turn.
“They’ve been trying to do so much and just haven’t gotten anywhere,” Alisha stated.
Calls for Accountability
John’s goddaughter, Amy Goudy, added her voice to the conversation, accusing K.C., Eugene Brummet, and John’s assistant, Belinda Foster, of isolating him.
Shannon previously alleged that Belinda impersonated her on the night of John’s death in the hospital.
Amy asserted, “KC portrayed an image of a close father-son relationship on social media, but the reality was far more complex.”
She expressed deep concerns about John’s potential neglect during his final days, citing photos from neighbors that led to an elder abuse investigation.
The family has vowed to seek answers and won’t rule out the possibility of foul play, especially considering the involvement of those close to John during his last days.
K.C. has not publicly responded to these serious allegations and has remained silent on social media since August 13, just eight days before John’s death.
What will unfold next remains uncertain, but the Amos family is determined to seek justice and clarity amidst their sorrow.
