…By Roland Peterson for TDPel Media. The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced the payment dates for social grants in June 2023.
This follows the release of the payment schedule for the 2023/24 financial year.
Elderly, Child, and Disability Grants in the First Week of the Month
During the first week of June, payments will be made for elderly, child, and disability grants.
Following that, Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant recipients and other grant beneficiaries will receive their payments.
All beneficiaries, except SRD recipients, can collect their grants at South African Post Office branches.
Validity of Expired SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards Extended
SASSA has assured social grant beneficiaries with expired gold cards that they can still receive their grants without any disruptions until the end of the year.
The Payment Association of South Africa (PASA) has extended the validity of expired SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards until 31 December 2023.
Recipients can continue using their expired cards for social grants transactions at ATMs and merchant points of sale.
Recipients Encouraged to Choose Their Preferred Payment Channel
Social grant beneficiaries with gold cards have been advised not to panic, as their cards will remain valid until the end of the year.
They have the option to choose their preferred payment channel and can visit SASSA offices to change the method of payment if they wish to receive their funds at their personal banks.
The extended gold cards can be used at any ATM and machines.
