Russia Introduces Advanced Volga C40, K30, and K40 Models with Intelligent Systems to Replace Mercedes Benz

On May 21, 2024, a new line of Volga cars was showcased for the first time at the Digital Industry of Industrial Russia exhibition.

This event was attended by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who took the opportunity to visit the Volga brand stand and personally evaluate the new Russian automobiles.

Diverse Range of Models

The latest Volga cars will be available in three distinct classes: the Volga C40, a D-class sedan; the Volga K30, a C-class crossover; and the Volga K40, a D-class crossover.

These models will be produced within the Nizhny Novgorod automobile cluster.

Advanced Technical Specifications

Each of the three models is powered by a modern 188-horsepower (300 Nm) petrol engine, paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission.

The vehicles are equipped with intelligent driver assistance systems, and their multimedia systems include popular domestic services favored by Russian car owners.

Production Timeline

The manufacturing of the new Volga cars is set to commence in 2024, with full-cycle production anticipated to begin in 2025.

Prime Minister’s Remarks

During his visit to the Volga pavilion at the Digital Industry of Industrial Russia exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod, Prime Minister Mishustin commented on the contemporary design of the new vehicles.

He emphasized the importance of localizing the production of car parts that are not technologically complex.

“Where is the steering wheel made, is it Chinese? I would like the steering wheel to be Russian-made. It is not as difficult as localizing the production of the transmission and all other elements,” the Prime Minister stated, highlighting the need for increased domestic production of car components.
