In a shocking crime spree that spanned several months, two 19-year-olds have been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of stealing high-end cars worth £300,000. The duo, Rio Halls and Kyron Clifton, carried out a series of brazen car burglaries, leaving families across multiple locations devastated by their actions.
A String of Burglaries Across the West Midlands
The pair targeted homes in Dudley, Walsall, and Wolverhampton, breaking in to steal car keys before making off with luxury vehicles such as BMWs, Mercedes, and Range Rovers. Their crime spree, which ran from August 2023 to April 2024, left many families in shock after finding intruders had entered their homes. Halls even extended his criminal activities into Staffordshire, while Clifton was linked to a burglary in Birmingham.
Strong Evidence and Forensic Links
The investigation, led by Wolverhampton’s CID team, gathered a range of evidence, including strong forensic links that tied the teenagers to the crimes. Both Halls and Clifton eventually admitted to conspiracy to commit burglary. Halls was involved in more than 25 burglaries or attempted burglaries, while Clifton was connected to nearly 20 incidents.
Sentencing and Ongoing Investigations
At Wolverhampton Crown Court on August 21, Halls, from Coalpool, was sentenced to six years and six months in prison. Clifton, from Darlaston, received a sentence of four years and nine months. However, West Midlands Police believe others may have been involved in the series of burglaries, and investigations are still ongoing. A spokesperson for the force urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
