…By Joseph Benjamin for TDPel Media. Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has shared his thoughts on the N9.2 million dress worn by Big Brother Naija star, Tacha Akide, to the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Tacha had previously revealed that the blue dress, designed by celebrity designer Tolu Bally, cost $20,000.
Omokri took to Instagram to express his reaction to the dress, acknowledging that despite criticisms of Nigeria, there are individuals like Tacha who continue to embrace an extravagant lifestyle.
Omokri highlighted that while Nigeria faces various challenges, the country still offers numerous opportunities.
He pointed out that Nigeria was one of the first African nations to successfully evacuate its citizens from war-torn Sudan.
Additionally, he mentioned the recently commissioned $19 billion Dangote Refinery, which is already attracting investments worth $25 billion, operating within the Lekki Free Trade Zone area.
In his post, Omokri emphasized that Nigeria’s perceived negative image should be reconsidered.
He cited statistics indicating that 6% of the population, equivalent to 12 million people, use iPhones, suggesting that this demonstrates the country’s potential and affluence.
He also mentioned the efforts made by the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to curb the practice of spraying money at parties, which has contributed to the preservation of billions of Naira.
Omokri further invited people to attend Nigerian parties, promising that their foreign friends would desire to be Nigerians after experiencing the lively and celebratory atmosphere.
He concluded his post by acknowledging that although Nigeria has not fully achieved its potential, it holds great promise for the future.
