Prominent PDP Leaders Defect to APC in Kogi State Ahead of Governorship Election

…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Two prominent figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State have recently made the decision to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the state’s governorship election, which is scheduled for November 2023.

The individuals who have defected are Hon. Ahmed Shehu Yabagi and Hon. Ishaiku Kashim Musa, both of whom were PDP candidates in the 2023 general elections for Lokoja I and II Constituency.

Warm Welcome by Kogi State Governor

The defectors were officially received into the APC on Wednesday by Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

Governor Bello commended the politicians for their courageous choice to join the APC and encouraged them to utilize their extensive experience.

He also urged them to motivate their supporters to work diligently towards securing victory for the party in the upcoming election.

The governor emphasized that his administration values competency and capability, rather than solely considering how long someone has been affiliated with the ruling party.

During the reception, the new members of the APC expressed their commitment to working in alignment with the principles and goals of their new political home.

Resignation of Senatorial Candidate from the Accord Party

In a separate development, Bashorun Moses Eseyin, who had been the Senatorial Candidate of the Accord party for Kogi West in the 2023 general elections, has recently tendered his resignation from the party.

Eseyin did not provide a specific reason for his decision to leave the Accord Party.

The resignation was communicated through a letter dated May 31, 2023, addressed to the chairman of the party in Ward 6, Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
