…By Larry John for TDPel Media. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the removal of the Managing Director of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Capt. Rabiu Yadudu, and five directors of the agency.
The dismissal of Yadudu and the other directors, who were appointed by President Buhari in 2019, takes immediate effect.
However, the specific reason for their termination has not been disclosed.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Aviation, President Buhari has also sanctioned the appointment of Kabir Yusuf Mohammed as the new head of FAAN.
Mohammed is expected to assume his new role next week.
Prior to his appointment, he served as the Regional General Manager, North Central, and Airport Manager of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Furthermore, Mohammed was appointed as the Chairman of the Aviation Roadmap Implementation Committee in January 2022 by the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika.
He effectively carried out this role while also serving as the General Manager of Special Duties at FAAN.
In related news, President Buhari is reportedly planning to dismiss the heads of other agencies, including the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the National Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).
Additionally, there have been reports of senior officials resigning from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the apex civil aviation regulatory body.
According to The Nation newspaper, the mass resignations are allegedly motivated by the Ministry of Aviation’s attempts to manipulate regulations to facilitate the launch of the controversial national carrier, Nigeria Air, before May 29, 2023.
