Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis receives a five-match stadium ban for improper conduct following Nottingham Forest’s heated encounter with Fulham

Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Nottingham Forest, faces a hefty five-match stadium ban following an incident after the team’s match against Fulham.

The ban comes as a result of improper behavior in the tunnel area after the final whistle.

This decision was delivered by an independent Regulatory Commission, further straining the club’s relationship with football authorities.

Punishments for the Manager and Midfielder

On the same day as Marinakis’s punishment, Nottingham Forest’s manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, was also hit with a penalty.

Santo received a three-match ban and a £55,000 fine for his conduct following the club’s recent 2-2 draw against Brighton.

Adding to the challenges, star midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White was suspended for one match and fined £20,000 for his actions in the same game.

FA Statement on Marinakis’s Ban

According to the FA’s official statement, Marinakis was charged with misconduct for his actions near the tunnel after the Forest-Fulham match on September 28.

Though Marinakis denied the charge, the commission found him guilty, imposing a stadium ban that prohibits his presence for five matches.

The FA also noted that the reasons for the decision would be detailed in a written report soon.

Ongoing Tensions with Football Authorities

This incident is the latest in a series of challenges for Nottingham Forest when dealing with football’s governing bodies.

Earlier this month, the club was hit with a significant £750,000 fine after a social media post in April questioned the integrity of referee Stuart Attwell.

The post followed Forest’s 3-0 defeat to Everton, and despite the club’s denial of discrediting officials, they faced harsh penalties.

Forest’s Response and Appeal

Nottingham Forest wasted no time in responding to Marinakis’s punishment.

The club swiftly announced that they are appealing both the decision and the severity of the sanction.

They are determined to fight back, signaling more legal action and back-and-forth with football regulators.

What comes next for Nottingham Forest is unclear, but the club is clearly preparing for a prolonged battle to overturn the ruling.
