NNPC says fuel queues will normalize in the next couple of days, advises motorists to avoid panic buying

NNPC reassures Nigerians of adequate petrol supply

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has reassured Nigerians of adequate petrol supply, saying that the fuel queues in Lagos and some other parts of the country are due to reduced depot loadout in Apapa.

Queues due to reduced depot loadout

NNPC Retail, the national oil company’s subsidiary, said in a statement on Thursday that the reason for the low depot loadout has since been addressed, and that the country has adequate stock of petrol to last for 30 days.

NNPC advises motorists to avoid panic buying

The oil company, therefore, advised motorists to desist from panic buying as distribution “will normalise over the next couple of days”.

NNPC is the sole importer of petrol into the country

Recall that the NNPC recently regained its status as the sole importer of petrol into the country because licensed private oil companies were unable to obtain Foreign Exchange (FX) for importation.

Conclusion

The NNPC has assured Nigerians that there is no fuel scarcity in the country, and that the fuel queues in Lagos and some other parts of the country are due to reduced depot loadout.

The company has also advised motorists to avoid panic buying as distribution will normalize in the next couple of days.
