Mother Requests Permission to Visit Children in U.S. While Out on Bail
Lindsay Shiver, arrested in the Bahamas in July for allegedly conspiring to kill her ex-husband Robert, asked a judge for permission to temporarily return to the United States to visit her children while out on bail.
Shiver has three kids with Robert and has been unable to see them since her detention. Her bail conditions require checking in with police multiple times weekly.
Estranged Wife Eager to Reunite With Kids
Shiver’s attorney conveyed she is eager to reunite with her children, stating the separation has been extremely tough for them. Her legal team continues preparing for the March trial while she fully cooperates with authorities in a transparent manner.
Extent of Restrictions Prevents Travel
The 36-year-old mother has not seen her kids since her July arrest alongside her boyfriend for purportedly plotting her ex-husband’s murder. She pleaded not guilty but must obey a curfew and frequently report to police, preventing travel.
Alleged Involvement in Murder Scheme
Shiver allegedly conspired with her boyfriend Terrance Bethel and another man named Faron Newbold to kill her ex-husband Robert while he visited the Bahamas.
Prosecutors claim the trio discussed plans over WhatsApp, with Shiver sending Robert’s photo to Newbold with kill instructions.
Plot Uncovered Unexpectedly, Additional Evidence Found
The alleged scheme was uncovered coincidentally during investigation of an unrelated robbery. After inspecting staff’s phones, police found incriminating messages between the accused plotters. More evidence was later discovered on their devices. Robert was informed and returned to the U.S.
Tumultuous Background Between Former Spouses
Shiver and Robert met in college in 2007 and share three kids. However, their marriage deteriorated with accusations of affairs and abuse. Robert filed for divorce in April after learning of Shiver’s recent fling with her now-co-defendant Bethel.
