Motorcyclist and Family of Four Tragically Die in Devastating Crash on A61 Near Wakefield and Barnsley

In a devastating incident that unfolded on the A61 between Wakefield and Barnsley, six lives were tragically lost.

Among those killed were Christopher Barton, 56, and his wife Janine Barton, 48.

They were on their motorcycle when the fatal crash occurred on Sunday.

The accident also claimed the lives of Shane Roller, 33, his partner Shannen Morgan, 30, and their young daughters, Rubie and Lillie Morgan-Roller, aged nine and four.

The collision involved their Ford Focus and the Bartons’ motorbike.

Sadly, the only survivor from their family is their eldest daughter, Poppie, who had chosen not to join the others on a walk that day.

Poppie’s New Home and Support

Poppie, who was at a friend’s house during the crash, is now set to live with her aunt, described as an “amazing, loving, and capable guardian.”

Paul Hepple, a family friend who has been helping with Poppie’s care, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support her.

He assured that the funds will be managed by Poppie’s aunt and used for her well-being, including living expenses, education, and counseling.

A Heartfelt Tribute

Paul Hepple shared that Poppie’s mother had asked them to watch over her on the day of the tragedy.

While they were enjoying a Sunday dinner, they received the shocking news of the accident.

He described Poppie as a “bubbly” girl who adored Taylor Swift and noted that her family was beloved in the community.

Over £31,000 has already been raised to aid Poppie’s future, highlighting the deep sympathy and support from those around her.
