It’s a bit of a blow to the Manchester bar scene—Love From, the alcohol-free bar that launched just eight months ago, is shutting its doors earlier than anyone anticipated.
Situated in the bustling Kampus area of Manchester city centre, Love From was created as a haven for those seeking alternatives to traditional drinking, whether they were sober-curious, abstinent, or just looking to try something new.
Karl Considine, the founder and podcast host behind Love From, initially introduced the concept as a pop-up bar in January.
The space quickly gained attention for its unique offerings, including alcohol-free beers priced at £5 and creative mocktails such as the ‘Keep The Paloma Faith’ and ‘It’s Giving English Garden’.
Despite the innovative menu and events like cocktail masterclasses, art workshops, and live music, Love From has had to close immediately due to financial difficulties.
In an Instagram update, Karl shared the tough news: “We were planning to wrap up our pop-up residency at the end of August, but we’ve had to make the very difficult decision to close now due to financial issues.
We will open one last time tomorrow, Saturday 27th July, from 12pm to 9pm for a final chance to enjoy some drinks.
Although it’s disheartening, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved this year, and this is just the start of a new chapter for us.”
Reactions and Reflections
The news has elicited a mixed reaction online.
Many expressed their disappointment, with comments like, “Such a shame—I was hoping to visit before you closed! Good luck on Saturday and hope to see you somewhere else!” Others, however, were more skeptical, questioning the concept’s sustainability.
Remarks like, “Incredible, it’s already closing. What a city…” and “Was never a good idea, was it?” surfaced among the responses.
Karl had taken a significant leap by leaving his 15-year corporate career to pursue Love From full-time after three and a half years of sobriety.
His goal was to provide a welcoming space for those who prefer not to drink alcohol while enjoying a night out.
Despite the closure, he remains optimistic about future pop-ups and continued endeavors in this niche.
Looking Forward
At the launch of Love From, Karl had promised a new world of inventive, alcohol-free drinks and a vibrant space for alternative events. “Get ready for a whole new world of delicious, inventive, and alcohol-free drinks that will tantalize your taste buds without the morning-after regrets,” he wrote on Instagram.
“Love From is more than just a bar; it’s a space for you to forge connections with like-minded souls and create unforgettable memories.”
As Love From says goodbye, Karl’s journey doesn’t end here.
He plans to keep exploring new opportunities and continue offering unique experiences for those seeking alcohol-free options. So, while Manchester bids farewell to this innovative bar, the spirit of Love From is set to continue in new and exciting ways.
