Mamelodi Sundowns Legend Peter Ndlovu Calls on Former Kaizer Chiefs Star Knowledge Musona to Return to Zimbabwe’s National Team Amid Africa Cup of Nations Campaign

In the world of football, the desire to see legends return to the pitch can spark excitement among fans and players alike.

Recently, Peter Ndlovu, a celebrated figure in Mamelodi Sundowns history, has made headlines by urging former Kaizer Chiefs player Knowledge Musona to come out of international retirement.

This call comes as the Zimbabwean national team, affectionately known as The Warriors, looks to bolster its ranks for the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification.

Musona’s Impressive Legacy

At 34, Musona is currently plying his trade with Saudi Arabian club Al-Okhdood.

He had previously stepped away from representing his national team two years ago, but his record of 24 goals in 51 appearances over a 12-year international career speaks volumes about his skill on the field.

With the recent retirement of fellow countryman Khama Billiat being reversed, there’s hope that Musona can also reconsider his decision.

Ndlovu’s Plea on Social Media

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Ndlovu expressed his admiration for Musona and urged him to return to the national squad.

He praised Billiat for his comeback, stating, “Khama, your country always needed you. Thanks for returning, boy.”

Ndlovu highlighted the impact of experienced players like Musona, saying, “The confidence you instill in the team is unimaginable. The likes of Wales have vastly been improving & learning from you.

We hope Knowledge can give us another 10 games so that he surpasses the record goals.”

Ndlovu’s Journey in Football

Ndlovu himself has a rich football history, having played for clubs like Birmingham City and Sheffield United in England before joining Sundowns in 2004.

During his time with Sundowns, he celebrated two league titles before retiring after a brief period with Thanda Royal Zulu.

Now serving as a team manager for Sundowns, Ndlovu remains deeply invested in the development of Zimbabwean football.

The Future of Musona and The Warriors

The question now is whether Musona will heed Ndlovu’s heartfelt request to return to the national team.

As The Warriors gear up for critical matches in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, having a seasoned player like Musona could make a significant difference.

The anticipation builds around whether he will once again don the national jersey and contribute to his team’s quest for success.
