Luc Eymael Takes Charge as Head Coach of Saint Eloi Lupopo in a Bold Move After Recent CAF Confederation Cup Exit in DR Congo

In a significant move for the club, six-time champions Saint Eloi Lupopo have welcomed Luc Eymael as their new head coach.

Eymael, who previously led Free State Stars and Polokwane City FC, brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the team.

A New Chapter for Eymael

Just prior to joining Lupopo, Eymael was at the helm of Aigles du Congo, another team in the DR Congo league.

His tenure there saw him finish fourth in the playoffs, narrowly missing out on a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Despite this setback, Eymael received praise for his ability to turn a newly formed team into a competitive force in the league.

Since parting ways with Aigles du Congo, he has been on the lookout for a new opportunity.

Shifting Tides After CAF Confederation Cup Exit

Saint Eloi Lupopo is making waves after their recent exit from the CAF Confederation Cup.

Following their elimination in the second preliminary round, the club decided to part ways with coach Mohamed Magassouba.

The appointment of Eymael comes as part of a two-year contract aimed at revitalizing the team.

Eymael’s Aspirations for the Future

With his new position secured, Eymael has ambitious goals for the club.

“I want to qualify the team for Africa, whether it’s the Champions League or the Confederation Cup,” he shared with FARPost.

His vision is to not only qualify but to also make it to the group stages.

“I had discussions with the chairman back in June, but at that time, he opted to retain the previous coach.

However, after realizing that he didn’t want to renew that contract, the chairman reached out to me on Tuesday, and by Wednesday, we had finalized the deal,” Eymael explained.

Professionalism at the Forefront

As he steps into this new role, Eymael is determined to elevate the team’s professionalism.

“I’m sure the Chairman wants the best for the team, and that’s exactly what we’ll strive to achieve together.

It’s essential that we foster a culture of professionalism, and that’s our plan moving forward,” he concluded.

With Eymael at the helm, the future looks promising for Saint Eloi Lupopo.

Fans and players alike will be eager to see how these changes unfold on the field.
