In the world of South African football, transfers often spark excitement and speculation.
One recent move that has caught attention is talented attacker Lesedi Kapinga’s switch to Sekhukhune United.
Former PSL player Rodney Ramagalela, who hails from the same province as Kapinga, has weighed in on this significant transition, offering his insights on what it means for the young player’s career.
Hailing from Limpopo
Ramagalela, who shares a connection with Kapinga as a fellow Limpopo native, refers to him fondly as his “homeboy.”
The two players share a common history, having both donned the colors of the Black Leopards in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
This bond adds a personal touch to Ramagalela’s commentary on Kapinga’s journey in the sport.
A Fresh Start at Sekhukhune United
Recently, Kapinga made headlines by joining Sekhukhune United as a free agent, bringing his skills to the Betway Premiership outfit.
His departure from Orlando Pirates was amicable, following a season marked by limited playing time due to intense competition within the squad.
During his time with the Pirates, Kapinga made 13 appearances and contributed one assist.
Before his stint with Orlando Pirates, he also faced challenges at Mamelodi Sundowns, where he struggled for game time over three seasons.
With the 2023/24 PSL season underway, Kapinga is eager to make a fresh start at his new club, Babina Noko.
Rodney Ramagalela’s Optimistic Outlook
Rodney Ramagalela is optimistic about Kapinga’s transfer to Sekhukhune United.
He believes this move is an excellent opportunity for the young midfielder to shine.
Ramagalela expressed hope that Kapinga would secure more playing time under coach Lehlohonolo Seema, noting, “Personally, for me, that’s a great move for him.
I call him my ‘homeboy’ because we both come from the same province.”
Ramagalela acknowledges Seema’s coaching abilities and is confident that Kapinga can still deliver great performances.
He stated, “He’s still a good player, and with so many seasons to play, he will add good value to the team.”
Regaining Confidence
Ramagalela emphasizes the importance of confidence in a player’s performance.
He believes that the move to Sekhukhune will help Kapinga rediscover his form.
“Most importantly, I think the move will help him to find himself back to the guy we know.
By that, I mean his confidence, and if he gets his confidence back, he will be alright and regain his form,” he said.
As Kapinga embarks on this new chapter with Sekhukhune United, all eyes will be on him to see how he seizes this opportunity to make a mark in the league.
