Legal Action Against Night Club Staff
The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has expressed his determination to initiate legal proceedings against eleven employees of the 10 POTS Night Club in Lekki.
The club staff assaulted state officials on duty and broke the seal placed by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA).
Statement by Director of Public Affairs
Kunle Adeshina, the Director of Public Affairs, shared this information in a statement released in Lagos.
The incident involved the club’s staff breaking the seal used by LASEPA to secure the premises after it was previously sealed due to noise pollution.
Arrest of Club Employees
A total of eleven employees, consisting of four males and seven females, were arrested for their involvement in brutalizing state officials during the assault.
These employees, as well as the property owner, are set to be arraigned before the appropriate courts on Monday.
Deterrent Against Illegal Actions
The Commissioner emphasized that the legal action is intended to serve as a deterrent to others who might consider engaging in similar illegal actions.
The club employees not only removed the LASEPA seal but also reopened the premises for business shortly after the initial enforcement activities.
Violent Resistance and Reinforcement
The statement mentioned that the attempt to reseal the premises was met with violent resistance from the club’s staff, leading to physical harm inflicted on state officials.
This prompted the call for additional security reinforcement to manage the situation.
