…By Jack Sylva for TDPel Media. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has emphasized the importance of providing modern medical facilities in Lagos to strengthen the healthcare system and meet the needs of the people.
This statement was made during the formal commissioning of Medical Infrastructure Projects at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja, Lagos.
Commitment to Healthcare Development:
Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, highlighted that the provision of these facilities fulfills the administration’s promises and commitment to the people of Lagos State under the Health and Environment Pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S development agenda.
The governor expressed confidence that the newly commissioned medical infrastructure, including the 124-Bed SDG Multipurpose Medical Building donated by Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, will contribute to improving the nation’s Human Capital Development Index and achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Enhancing Medical Education and Healthcare Delivery:
The governor praised the well-equipped SDG Multipurpose Medical Building, which includes four medical schools specializing in Anesthesia Technology, Echocardiography, Orthopaedic Cast Technology, and Post Graduate Nursing.
He emphasized that these additions would elevate LASUTH’s status as a leading medical school and a center of excellence in healthcare service delivery.
The commissioning also included the Multipurpose Hospital Building, House Officer’s Quarters, Ambulance Bay, Special Service Centre, School of Basic Medical Sciences Building (LASUCOM), and basketball courts.
Maintenance and Future Plans:
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the management of LASUTH to prioritize the care and maintenance of the newly commissioned facilities.
He affirmed the administration’s commitment to do more in its second term to elevate the standard of excellence further.
Continuing its efforts to enhance infrastructure in Lagos State, the Sanwo-Olu administration commissioned the MBA-Cardoso Street in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area.
The governor emphasized the importance of expanding the transportation sector, including the provision of modern and sustainable road infrastructure, to improve the commuting experience, save time lost in traffic, and enhance connectivity.
Fulfilling Infrastructure Promises:
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye, highlighted the administration’s commitment to improving the quality of life and driving socio-economic growth through infrastructure upgrade and renewal.
This commitment aligns with the administration’s focus on enhancing the well-being of Lagosians and empowering them across economic activities.
Community Involvement and Sustainability:
Engr. Adeyoye appealed to the Ajeromi community members to protect and ensure the sustainability of the newly commissioned infrastructure.

The Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Fatal Adekunle Ayoola, expressed gratitude for the rehabilitation of the Mba-Cardoso road.
He described it as a dividend of democracy and a significant relief for the residents of Ajeromi-Ifelodun, showcasing the government’s capacity-driven administrative insights reaching the masses in Ajegunle.
