Lagos State Government’s Commitment to Improve Welfare of CBD Operatives Emphasized by Director, Administration and Human Resources

In a recent address to the Lagos Island Central Business District (CBD) operatives, Mr. Ishola Rahman, the Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on CBD, reaffirmed the State Government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the welfare and livelihoods of these operatives.

He took the opportunity to assure them that the government is diligently working to ensure that their allowances are disbursed punctually and as stipulated.

Acknowledging Recent Allowance Delays

Mr. Rahman acknowledged the recent inconvenience faced by the operatives due to the delay in receiving their allowances, spanning a three-month period.

He explained that this delay was primarily attributable to the conclusion of the former Head of the Agency’s tenure in May 2023.

Consequently, the renewal of the application for allowance approval necessitated additional time.

Swift Resolution and Plea for Patience

Emphasizing the government’s responsiveness to the situation, Mr. Rahman assured the operatives that the approval process for the outstanding three months’ allowances is receiving prompt attention.

In light of this, he appealed to the operatives for continued patience, urging them to uphold their dedication and steadfastness in performing their duties within the CBD enclaves, notwithstanding the temporary setback.

Intensified Efforts in Clearing and Enforcement

In parallel efforts, the Office has undertaken a rigorous campaign to clear shanties and makeshift shops along the Marina area of Lagos Island.

Additionally, illegal shops encroaching onto the roads within the Idumota and Balogun markets have been removed.

A stern warning has been issued to all other entities across various markets, cautioning them against erecting further illegal structures.

Conclusion

The commitment of the Lagos State Government to the welfare of CBD operatives remains unwavering, as articulated by Mr. Ishola Rahman during his address.

While recent delays in allowance payments are acknowledged, the government’s efforts to expedite approvals and disbursements underscore its dedication to the well-being of these operatives.

The simultaneous endeavors to clear and enforce regulations within CBD areas reflect the government’s commitment to maintaining order and compliance in these crucial business districts.
