Kgaogelo Sekgota, the new winger for Magesi FC, recently opened up about his time with Kaizer Chiefs, where he spent two seasons between 2021 and 2023.
Sekgota, now 27, admits that his tenure at the Soweto giants wasn’t quite what he had hoped for.
Despite his potential, he struggled to get consistent game time.
This led him to make a move to Stellenbosch FC. However, his stint there was brief, and he was released after just six months.
Embracing New Opportunities
Despite these challenges, Sekgota remains positive about his experience.
“My time at Chiefs was incredible,” he shared with FARPost. “Although I wasn’t playing as much as I’d hoped, it was a valuable period for me.
It was the right time to be in the right place, even if things didn’t go exactly as planned.”
He added, “As a player, you can always strive to do more, but when it’s time for a new chapter, you have to accept it and embrace the journey ahead. Everything in football is a learning experience, and you can never predict where you’ll end up.”
Looking Back with Pride
Reflecting on his time at Kaizer Chiefs, Sekgota spoke highly of the club.
“I don’t want to sugarcoat it; Chiefs is a top team with great professionalism. The technical team, the Chairman Mr. Bobby Motaung, and Kaizer Motaung Jr. are all exceptional. I don’t regret a single day spent there and I’m proud of my time with them.”
He concluded with a motivational note: “In life and football, you can face setbacks and challenges. What matters is giving your best and accepting the results, whatever they may be.”
