Kaizer Chiefs Make Significant Defensive Signings While Remaining Focused on Acquiring Winger and Striker Targets Amidst Transfer Activity in South Africa

As the transfer window heats up, Kaizer Chiefs have been busy reshaping their squad.

They’ve made a total of seven signings so far, focusing heavily on strengthening their defense.

However, their pursuit of attacking talent is far from over.

Defensive Reinforcements

The Chiefs have bolstered their defensive lineup with a series of strategic acquisitions.

Key among these is Bongani Sam, who joined from their fierce rivals Orlando Pirates.

The team also secured Rushwin Dortley and Fiacre Ntwari, with Dortley coming from Cape Town Spurs and Ntwari arriving from TS Galaxy as a goalkeeper.

Additionally, Gaston Sirino, Inacio Miguel, Bradley Cross, and Njabulo Blom have also been added to the roster, further solidifying their defense.

Continued Search for Attackers

Despite these defensive upgrades, Chiefs are still on the hunt for attacking talent.

They’re reportedly eyeing two more signings: a winger and a striker.

After missing out on Elias Mokwana and Khanyisa Mayo, they are now turning their attention to Oswin Appollis.

There were initial reports suggesting that Appollis, a standout player from Polokwane City, was heading to Algeria, but that deal seems to have fallen through, potentially opening the door for Chiefs to make a move.

The Chiefs are also not giving up on Asanele Velebayi.

The club has been involved in a prolonged and public negotiation with Spurs for his signature.

Initially, Chiefs were quoted R12 million for the 21-year-old, a sum they hesitated to pay.

There were allegations of improper conduct regarding his recruitment, but sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr has clarified these as misunderstandings.

Looking Ahead

Recently, Spurs sold Ashley Cupido and Chumani Butsaka to Stellenbosch FC, which could pave the way for Velebayi’s transfer to Chiefs.

Velebayi even showed support for his former teammate Dortley’s Instagram post, which might hint at his potential move.

As the transfer window continues, all eyes will be on whether Chiefs can successfully complete their remaining transfer targets.
