Edmilson Dove, Kaizer Chiefs’ defender, recently opened up about the demanding pre-season regime led by new coach Nasreddine Nabi, labeling it as the toughest phase of their season.
In a candid interview with the club’s media team, Dove detailed the team’s rigorous daily routine.
This includes three sessions packed into a single day: an early morning mountain run followed by intense gym and field workouts in the afternoon.
Currently in their third week of pre-season training, Kaizer Chiefs are stationed in Istanbul, Turkey, for an 18-day intensive training camp under Nabi’s guidance.
Despite the grueling schedule, Dove highlighted the positive atmosphere within the camp.
He noted, “It’s been encouraging to witness the team’s energy, especially during our morning runs.
It reflects the positive mood here, which is crucial for all of us.”
Adapting to a New Philosophy
With a new technical team at the helm, Dove acknowledged the challenge of adapting to different coaching philosophies and approaches.
“Each coach brings a unique perspective,” he explained. “Our task as players is to absorb their ideas and translate them onto the field effectively.”
Optimism for the Season Ahead
Despite the challenges, the 29-year-old expressed optimism about the team’s development.
“We’re working towards being fully prepared collectively for the season opener,” Dove affirmed.
Looking Ahead
As Kaizer Chiefs gear up under the tutelage of their new coach, Nabi, they aim to start the season with renewed vigor, focusing on fitness and tactical acumen.
Last season’s 10th-place finish, with only nine victories and 12 losses, motivates them to strive for improvement.
This glimpse into Edmilson Dove’s perspective offers insight into the dedication and determination of the Chiefs as they prepare for the upcoming season under Nabi’s leadership.
