Kaizer Chiefs Coach Nasreddine Nabi Requests Second Assistant Coach After Fernando Da Cruz’s Departure to Royal Moroccan Football Federation

Kaizer Chiefs Coach Nasreddine Nabi Requests Second Assistant Coach After Fernando Da Cruz’s Departure to Royal Moroccan Football Federation

After the departure of Fernando Da Cruz, Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has voiced the need for a second assistant coach.

Da Cruz, who had joined the Chiefs alongside Nabi from ASFAR, has left for a lucrative position with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FMRF).

His exit leaves Khalil Ben Youssef, Nabi’s former analyst from Young Africans, as the only assistant on the technical team.

Nabi has been open about his struggle with the increased workload.

He commented, “Why not? It’s possible, all is possible… because I have too much work, too much of a job, only with one assistant, it’s not [easy].”

Although he manages for now, the formal letter confirming Da Cruz’s departure has prompted Nabi to explore his options for additional support.

Arthur Zwane’s Return: Rumors vs. Reality

There’s been plenty of buzz about a potential return of former head coach Arthur Zwane to fill the vacant assistant role.

However, Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr has put those rumors to rest.

Motaung Jnr clarified that Zwane, who is currently serving as the Senior Academy Coach, is not expected to rejoin the first team.

This leaves Nabi to continue his search for a new assistant as he considers other potential candidates to bolster his technical staff.

The Potential Addition of Burundian Coach Cedric Kaze

Among the names being floated as potential new assistants is Burundian coach Cedric Kaze.

Kaze, who previously worked with Nabi at Young Africans, is rumored to be a strong candidate.

Sources suggest that Nabi is eager to bring Kaze on board, especially since a previous attempt to sign him last year fell through.

Kaze’s experience and successful track record could be a valuable asset to the Chiefs.

Chiefs’ Season Kickoff and Coaching Adjustments

Kaizer Chiefs began their 2024/2025 Betway Premiership campaign with a promising 2-1 win over Marumo Gallants.

Despite this positive start, the reduced technical staff and the potential addition of a new assistant coach underscore ongoing adjustments within the team.

The arrival of Kaze could offer the extra support needed to enhance the team’s performance throughout the season.
