Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is delighted to have Cedric Kaze join him on the coaching staff, describing the appointment as a reunion with his ‘brother.’
Kaze, who previously worked alongside Nabi at Tanzanian club Young Africans, was recently appointed as the assistant coach at Chiefs.
The duo’s successful past, where they claimed two league titles and reached the CAF Confederation Cup final, has sparked optimism at Chiefs. Kaze replaces Fernando Da Cruz, who recently left the club.
Delays with Kaze’s Official Role
Despite the excitement surrounding Kaze’s appointment, he wasn’t able to join the team on the bench during Chiefs’ recent 4-0 victory over SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout Last 16.
The club is still working through the paperwork needed to finalize his role, meaning the Burundian coach had to watch from the sidelines.
Kaze brings a wealth of experience, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Science along with CAF and German Football Federation A licenses.
His expertise is expected to be a significant asset to Chiefs once everything is in place.
A Grateful Coach and Trusted Partner
Nabi couldn’t contain his gratitude towards the Chiefs management for making this reunion possible.
He shared his appreciation for Kaizer Motaung Jr. and Bobby Motaung for facilitating Kaze’s arrival.
“This is my brother. We’ve had our share of victories and tough moments at Young Africans, and I’m thrilled to have him here,” said Nabi.
He went on to praise Kaze’s coaching experience and his character, describing him as not just a skilled professional but also a gentleman.
Chiefs’ Dominant Performance and Praise for Fiacre Ntwari
Chiefs put in a commanding performance, cruising to a 4-0 win over SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium to secure a spot in the Carling Knockout quarter-finals.
Nabi highlighted the contribution of goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, whose crucial saves kept the opponents from making a comeback during pivotal moments of the match.
“It’s a solid victory, but we must acknowledge Fiacre. His saves were critical to keeping the game under control, and we couldn’t have done it without him and the team effort on the pitch,” said Nabi.
Now, all eyes are on what’s next for Kaizer Chiefs as they prepare for the quarter-finals with renewed confidence.
