As the transfer window edges closer to its final days, the pressure is on Kaizer Chiefs to make strategic decisions.
According to former winger Junior Khanye, there are six players that could be game-changers for Amakhosi.
While head coach Nasreddine Nabi is focused on bringing in quality over quantity, Khanye believes these signings could dramatically shift the team’s fortunes.
Focus on Attacking and Midfield Powerhouses
Khanye’s top priority for Chiefs is to strengthen their attack and midfield.
He specifically calls for the club to target Sipho Mbule and Sphelele Mkhulise, both from Gauteng rivals.
These players, even when not always starting, have shown their skills in major competitions like the Champions League.
“They need to go for Mbule. Chiefs have the resources,” Khanye emphasized.
“Mbule and Mkhulise bring quality to the table, and their experience in top-level tournaments can make a difference.”
Khanye also advocates for the return of Khama Billiat, a player he holds in high regard.
“Billiat has natural talent. With the right environment and confidence, he can still offer a lot to the team,” Khanye said, underscoring how valuable Billiat’s comeback could be.
Bolstering the Defence: Khanye’s Suggestions
Turning to the defensive lineup, Khanye believes Kaizer Chiefs should pursue Keanu Cupido, a strong centre-back, and Deano van Rooyen, who recently signed with Pirates as a right-back.
“Chiefs missed out on Deano. He could’ve been a great addition,” Khanye pointed out.
For further defensive reinforcement, he also recommends Ismail Toure or Thabo Moloisane from Stellenbosch.
Khanye didn’t stop there—he urged the club to push harder for goalkeeper Ricardo Goss, stating, “Chiefs should’ve gone all out and broken the bank for Goss.”
Latest Updates on Chiefs’ Interest in Oswin Appollis
While Khanye’s recommendations are generating buzz, Kaizer Chiefs have their eyes on another target—Polokwane City FC winger Oswin Appollis.
Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. gave an update on the club’s efforts to bring Appollis on board.
In a recent interview, Motaung Jr. shared his admiration for the player.
“Every club in the country would love to sign him. He’s top-tier,” Motaung Jr. said.
He also revealed that discussions with Polokwane City’s chairman, Johnny Mogaladi, are ongoing.
“We’re working tirelessly to bring top talent like Appollis to Chiefs.
Talks are progressing, not just about Oswin but other players as well,” Motaung Jr. explained, leaving the door open for more signings before the window closes.
What’s Next for Kaizer Chiefs?
With the transfer deadline looming, it’s clear Kaizer Chiefs have some important decisions to make.
Whether they act on Khanye’s advice or seal the deal on Appollis, the next few days will be crucial in shaping their squad for the season ahead.
