A jilted girlfriend, Jenny Keats-Rawling, has avoided jail time after a terrifying smear campaign against her ex-boyfriend, Jake Green.
Keats-Rawling, 30, falsely claimed she was pregnant with Green’s child and tried to frame him as a potential mass murderer.
She sent a chilling message to police, alleging that Green was “hearing voices and wanting to kill people,” leading to a police patrol being dispatched to speak to Green.
However, upon investigation, it was revealed that Keats-Rawling’s message was a hoax.
Revenge Campaign and Harassment
In addition to the false pregnancy claim and the attempt to frame Green, Keats-Rawling embarked on a campaign of harassment against him.
She made over 100 silent phone calls, impersonated a police officer, and harassed Green’s family over Instagram.
She also messaged Green’s new girlfriend, Taylor Coates, warning her to “watch your back” and making false accusations against Green.
These actions resulted in Green losing two jobs and his car.
Impact on the Victims
Green expressed feeling scared and anxious due to Keats-Rawling’s actions, stating that he had to block her from eight different social media accounts to stop her from trolling him.
He felt compelled to pursue prosecution to ensure Keats-Rawling would leave him alone.
Coates also described the distress she experienced, leading to doubts in her relationship and causing her to have a breakdown.
Legal Proceedings and Sentencing
Keats-Rawling, diagnosed with autism, pleaded guilty to stalking causing serious alarm or distress.
She was sentenced to an 18-month community order, required to attend 25 days of rehabilitation, and fined £162, with £199 in costs and victim surcharge.
Additionally, she received an 18-month restraining order not to contact Green, Coates, and two other family members.
Despite facing up to 18 months in jail, the judge decided against imprisonment but warned of consequences if Keats-Rawling did not comply with the probation service.
Reflection and Resolution
Keats-Rawling’s lawyer acknowledged her autism and other conditions, expressing belief that there would not be a repeat of the offenses.
He stated that Keats-Rawling recognized her issues and sought help.
Keats-Rawling expressed remorse and a desire to move on from the incident, wanting to resolve the matter and put it behind her.
In conclusion, while Keats-Rawling was spared jail time, she received legal consequences for her actions, highlighting the impact of false accusations and harassment on the victims.
