The Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy has committed to providing essential backing for the upcoming ‘Five Million Salute’ campaign initiated by the Nigerian Legion, Lagos State Command.
The primary objective of this campaign is to garner support for the well-being of and express gratitude for the immense sacrifices and dedication exhibited by the men and women of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
These brave individuals continually put their lives on the line to safeguard the unity and sovereignty of our beloved country.
A Promise of Assistance
Mr. Olumide Sogunle, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, conveyed this commitment during a courteous visit from members and volunteers of the organization.
Their purpose was to solicit the support of the Lagos State Government for the successful execution of the ‘Five Million Salute’ Campaign.
Represented by Mr. Adesegun Ogundeji, the Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Sogunle expressed gratitude for the visit and commended the organization for their comprehensive presentation outlining the planned event.
Assurances were given that the Ministry would provide comprehensive support to ensure that the proposed Salute Campaign receives the necessary media coverage and publicity.
The Ministry also pledged to leverage State Government media platforms and other publicity avenues to effectively communicate the campaign’s messages to the general public.

The Public Relations Officer of the State Command of the Nigerian Legion and the leader of the delegation, Mr. Olufemi George, elucidated the purpose behind their visit.
The intent was to secure the endorsement of the Lagos State government, facilitated through the Ministry, for the impending ‘Five Million Salute’ campaign.
Set to take place in September, the campaign is poised to become one of the most significant initiatives in the Command’s history.
Themed “The Five Million Salute,” its primary aim is to generate support for retired members of the Nigerian Legion who are grappling with challenges post their meritorious military service.

Mr. George revealed that the funds amassed from the campaign would be allocated to providing suitable accommodations and quality healthcare for retired and disabled military personnel.
