…By Alan Peterson for TDPel Media. The government has issued an urgent notice instructing individuals to return two dog flea and insect repellent shampoos following a product defect.
The Veterinary Medicines Directorate released the alert without specifying the nature of the defect.
The alert has been disseminated to both sellers and dog owners who have purchased the affected products from Johnson’s.
The directorate has classified this as a ‘Class II recall,’ indicating that the use or exposure to the faulty product may lead to temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, or the likelihood of serious adverse health consequences is remote.
The recall pertains to the Small Animal Insecticidal Shampoo in the 125ml bottle and the Dog Flea Shampoo in the 200ml bottle.
The Veterinary Medicines Directorate has stated, “We wish to inform wholesalers, retailers, and end users that Johnson’s Veterinary Products Ltd has initiated a Class II recall for all batches of the following products:
– Johnson’s Small Animal Insecticidal Shampoo in the 125ml bottle
– Johnson’s Dog Flea Shampoo in the 200ml bottle
This action is due to a potential quality issue.”
The directorate has advised that Johnson’s Veterinary Products Ltd is contacting retailers and wholesale dealers to conduct an immediate examination of their inventory and isolate the products subject to this recall.
End users are urged to return any purchased items to the store from which they were obtained.
