Glastonbury 2024 Lineup Unveiled
Pop stars Dua Lipa and Madonna are set to take the stage at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival, making history as the first time the festival features two female headliners.
The pair will also perform alongside the renowned band Coldplay.
Headlining the Legendary Pyramid Stage
It’s been confirmed that the three acts will headline the legendary Pyramid Stage. The Queen of Pop, Madonna, is reportedly set to bring the stage to a close on Sunday night.
Coldplay is expected to headline on Saturday, and Dua Lipa, the “Don’t Start Now” hitmaker, will kick off the festival on Friday.
An Epic Dream Line-Up
An insider shared their excitement, stating, “It’s the dream line-up, a brilliant mix of different music and different atmospheres.
Then, of course, you have Madonna on the final night, which will be epic.”
Madonna’s Glastonbury Debut
Madonna, with a career spanning over four decades, has never performed at Glastonbury before. This marks a significant moment for both the festival and her fans.
In contrast, Coldplay, who have headlined four times before in 2002, 2005, 2011, and 2016, are no strangers to the Glastonbury stage. It’s also Dua Lipa’s first-ever headline performance at the festival.
Organizer Emily Eavis’s Revelations
Organizer Emily Eavis, daughter of Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis, revealed that they had received a call from a legendary US artist who is keen to perform in 2024.
She mentioned, “This year we’re holding out for a little bit longer, and last week I got a call from a really big American artist saying this person’s around next year, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is incredible.’ Thank God we held the slot.”
Addressing Gender Split and Future Prospects
Emily Eavis also addressed the festival’s criticism regarding the lack of female headliners.
She expressed her passion for gender diversity in festival line-ups and mentioned their efforts to promote female artists, even on smaller stages.
She remains hopeful that future line-ups may feature more female headliners.
Glastonbury’s Rich History
Glastonbury Festival has a rich history of over five decades, attracting partygoers, fans, and famous faces alike. It has seen iconic performances from artists like Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, and Kylie Minogue.
Notably, Elton John delivered a show-stopping performance in his last UK show at the festival in the previous year.
This year’s Glastonbury promises to be a historic and memorable event, continuing the festival’s tradition of bringing top-tier artists to the stage.
