Danny Simpson is gearing up for a new challenge as he transitions from football to boxing later this month.
Although he’s known for his Premier League victory with Leicester City, Simpson’s personal life has made headlines almost as often as his football career.
As he prepares for a boxing match against YouTuber Danny Aarons on August 31 at Dublin’s 3Arena, his tumultuous love life and legal troubles are also in the spotlight.
Simpson, now 37, has faced his fair share of controversies, particularly regarding his relationships.
In 2015, he was convicted of assaulting his ex-partner after a police call revealed him physically restraining her at his luxury home in Worsley, Manchester. Despite denying the charges, Simpson was found guilty and sentenced to 300 hours of community service.
He completed this service working as a bingo caller and at an Age UK charity shop.
In 2016, Simpson successfully argued for a reduction in his community service hours due to intense media scrutiny. Instead of continuing his community work, he received a 21-day curfew.
The judge noted that a monetary fine would be ineffective due to Simpson’s substantial earnings at the time, which were around £40,000 per week.
Relationships and Family Life
Simpson’s relationships have often been in the public eye.
He has a 12-year-old daughter, Skye, with lawyer Stephanie Ward. Their relationship ended after the assault incident, and Ward later became an advocate for women’s rights against domestic violence. She and Simpson have had public disputes over child support and visitation.
Simpson also has a four-year-old daughter named Vienna with Melissa Reeves, known from *Ex On The Beach*. Reeves announced the pregnancy on social media, but Simpson never publicly confirmed his fatherhood.
Despite their brief fling, they have committed to co-parenting Vienna. Reeves shared her labor experience online, noting the challenging delivery of their daughter.
High-Profile Relationship with Tulisa
In addition to his relationships with Ward and Reeves, Simpson dated former X Factor judge Tulisa in late 2012.
Their relationship lasted only eight months, with Tulisa later criticizing Simpson for his behavior and alleged obsession with her. She described him as a “fan” and claimed he lacked the intellect and depth she valued.
As Simpson steps into the boxing ring, his past continues to follow him, shaping both his public image and personal life.
