In a surprising announcement, Dave Grohl has come forward with a deeply personal confession.
The Foo Fighters frontman has revealed that he fathered a child outside of his marriage to Jordyn Blum.
The 55-year-old musician shared this news through a statement posted on Instagram, where he expressed his commitment to being a loving and supportive parent to his new daughter.
Grohl’s statement read, “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage.
I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her.
I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.
We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved as we move forward together.”
A Long-Lasting Marriage Tested
Dave Grohl and Jordyn Blum, who have been together since 2001 and married since 2003, share three daughters: Violet, Harper, and Ophelia.
Despite their long-standing relationship, Grohl’s past relationships have often been the subject of media speculation.
Before his marriage to Blum, Grohl was linked with several well-known figures, including Veruca Salt’s Louise Post, L7’s Jennifer Finch, and snowboarder Tina Basich.
He also faced rumors about relationships with Christina Aguilera and Winona Ryder.
Grohl has addressed these rumors in the past, clarifying that he was not romantically involved with Aguilera and that his relationship with Post was not without its own complications.
Musical Inspirations and Heartbreaks
Grohl’s relationship with Louise Post was notably influential.
The pair dated after Grohl’s previous marriage to Jennifer Youngblood ended in 1997, a separation that followed Grohl’s own admissions of infidelity.
The romance with Post inspired the iconic Foo Fighters track “Everlong.”
In 2021, Post shared insights into her contribution to the song, revealing that Grohl had originally included whispers in the track that were later replaced with his own.
Their relationship, however, ended after about a year, reportedly so Grohl could pursue a relationship with Winona Ryder.
Post later mentioned that while her music was often interpreted as being about Grohl, the lyrics weren’t necessarily reflections of their relationship.
Relationships and Breakups
Grohl’s romantic history also includes a brief relationship with Jennifer Finch from the band L7.
Their relationship occurred during the height of Nirvana’s fame, which Finch recounted in a documentary.
She described the overwhelming attention that came with Grohl’s rising fame, which contributed to their split.
Additionally, Grohl dated Tina Basich in the late 90s, a relationship that also ended in breakup.
In her 2003 memoir, Basich accused Grohl of infidelity, revealing how she learned about it through others and not directly from him.
She expressed frustration over the lack of closure she received from Grohl, who she felt vanished from her life despite his prominent public presence.
The complexities of Grohl’s personal life and relationships continue to attract attention, but it’s clear that he’s now focused on navigating the challenges of his current family situation.
