Labour Party Chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo Accuses Tinubu Government of Ethnic Bias and Lack of Developmental Plan

Labour Party Chieftain Accuses Tinubu Government of Ethnicity and Bigotry

Kenneth Okonkwo, a prominent figure in the Labour Party (LP), has leveled accusations of ethnicity and bigotry against President Bola Tinubu’s government.

In a statement on Tuesday, Okonkwo also criticized the administration, asserting its lack of a genuine developmental plan for the country.

Concerns Over Ministry Relocation Decision

Okonkwo’s comments were prompted by the recent decision of the current administration to relocate certain ministries, departments, and agencies from Abuja to Lagos.

Notably, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) are among the entities set to move their headquarters.

Allegations of Ethnic and Religious Bias

Expressing his discontent through a statement on his X account, Okonkwo contended that the relocation move is not geared towards reducing the cost of governance or curbing wastage, as argued by the government.

Instead, he alleged that the decision is rooted in ethnicity and religious bigotry.

Government’s Developmental Agenda Questioned

In his critique, Okonkwo questioned the government’s agenda for the country, stating, “This government obviously has no agenda for this country.”

He challenged the idea that moving ministries and agencies would contribute to governance cost reduction or efficiency improvements.

Beyond Ethnic and Religious Bigotry

Apart from the accusations of ethnic and religious bias, Okonkwo expressed skepticism about the government’s achievements.

He asserted, “Apart from being ethnic and religious bigots, I can’t see any further achievement of this government.”

This statement highlights his broader concerns about the overall effectiveness and impact of the administration’s policies and decisions.
