An explosion ripped through a home in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, leaving a community in shock.
The incident, which occurred yesterday evening, has left one man dead and three others hospitalized with minor injuries.
Emergency Response to Kellie Place
Around 6 p.m., emergency services rushed to the scene at Kellie Place after reports of a massive explosion.
The blast completely destroyed the roof and first floor of the house, leaving the structure in ruins.
Specialist firefighters worked tirelessly through the night, sifting through the rubble in search of clues as to what caused the explosion.
The Aftermath of the Blast
As smoke poured out of the property, it became clear that this was a serious situation.
Inside the flat at the time was a man who sadly lost his life in the explosion.
Authorities have not yet released his identity, and efforts are being made to inform his family.
Meanwhile, three other individuals from the same block were taken to Forth Valley Royal Infirmary for treatment of minor injuries.
Support for Displaced Residents
For the residents who lived in the surrounding flats, Alloa Town Hall was quickly opened as a temporary respite center.
With gas and electrical work needed to ensure the area is safe, it’s uncertain when residents will be able to return to their homes.
Police Scotland has assured them that if necessary, alternative accommodation will be arranged for the night.
Ongoing Investigations and Road Closures
Several nearby roads were cordoned off by officers as firefighters continued to stabilize the building.
Sniffer dogs were also brought in to assist with the investigation.
In a statement, Sergeant Neill Drummond confirmed that authorities are still working to uncover the full details of what led to this tragedy.
“We are doing everything we can to determine what happened,” Drummond said.
“Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family, and we will continue to support them as we move forward.”
Fire Services’ Efforts
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service quickly responded to the scene, dispatching a number of specialized units, including urban search and rescue teams.
“Our teams were mobilized immediately,” said a spokesperson for the service, adding that they are working closely with other emergency services to ensure the area is safe for residents.
As investigations continue, authorities are urging people to avoid the area to allow emergency teams to carry out their work safely.
More updates will be provided as the situation unfolds.
