A tragic incident unfolded on a quiet evening in Wales when two passenger trains collided, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries.

The collision took place on the Cambrian line near Llanbrynmair, Powys, around 7:29 PM, prompting a swift response from emergency services.

Emergency personnel, including Dyfed-Powys Police, British Transport Police, Welsh Ambulance Service, and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, quickly descended upon the scene.

As a precaution, the rail line between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth has been closed.

This road is expected to remain closed until early Tuesday morning.
