During a lively rally in Detroit, Donald Trump made headlines by encouraging women to rally their husbands off the couch and head to the polls for him.
The Republican nominee, addressing a crowd as early voting commenced, was adamant about the importance of participation in the upcoming elections.
A Provocative Encouragement
Trump, 78, didn’t hold back, playfully calling husbands “fat pigs” and urging their wives to motivate them to vote.
“Get everyone you know and go out and vote,” he insisted.
He further emphasized, “Make sure you vote and bring all our friends that want to vote for us. Tell them, ‘Jill, get your fat husband off the couch. Slap him around if you have to!’”
His humorous yet controversial remarks were aimed at mobilizing voters ahead of Michigan’s early voting, which starts on October 26.
Struggling for Support
This rally comes as Trump faces challenges with female voters, particularly when compared to Vice President Kamala Harris.
A recent New York Times/Siena College poll indicated that Harris holds a significant lead, with 56% of likely women voters supporting her against Trump’s 40%.
Support among Black women is even lower for Trump, sitting at just 12% in contrast to Harris’s 83%.

At a recent Usher concert in Atlanta, women voiced their reasons for supporting Harris.
Channal Gross-Anderson expressed her enthusiasm for voting for a Black woman, highlighting Harris’s commitment to women’s rights.
Meanwhile, Cassandra Johnson shared her reservations about both candidates, noting, “We got four years with Trump already, and I kind of see how that went, and I didn’t particularly enjoy it.”
Concerns over women’s rights were echoed by Ashlan Hawkins, who cited the recent abortion restrictions in Georgia as a key reason for her support for Harris.
Trump’s Ongoing Campaign Efforts
After the rally, Trump participated in a roundtable event in Oakland County, where he praised Teamsters President Sean O’Brien and noted the union’s past reluctance to endorse Republicans.
“I think it’s been many decades before they endorsed a Republican. I think they’ll start very soon,” Trump remarked, claiming to have the backing of Teamsters across the nation.
Harris’s Counter Message
On the other side of the campaign trail, Harris held her own event in Grand Rapids, criticizing Trump for lacking a coherent plan to protect the American people.
She encouraged her audience to “make a plan to vote,” reinforcing that so much is at stake in this election.
The crowd responded enthusiastically, reminding her of Trump’s earlier comments about the “concepts of a plan,” which she playfully echoed.
As both candidates continue their push for support, the focus on early voting is heating up, with Harris urging voters to assert their power and make their voices heard.
