Daddy Freeze Defends Tinubu’s Fuel Subsidy Removal Statement, Ignites Debate on Social Media

Tinubu, during his inaugural address, declared that fuel subsidy would no longer be sustained.

In response to the criticism, Daddy Freeze took to Instagram and referred to an old tweet by Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate.

Obi had previously described fuel subsidy in Nigeria as an organized crime and pledged to remove it immediately if elected as President.

Daddy Freeze reminded Nigerians of this similarity in promises made by both Tinubu and Obi, suggesting that they should consider this before complaining.

Keyamo Refutes Claims of Fuel Subsidy Removal by Tinubu

Former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, criticized a section of the media for claiming that President Bola Tinubu had removed fuel subsidy.

Keyamo described these reports as mischievous and clarified that Tinubu’s administration had simply inherited a regime in which there was no provision for subsidy in the 2023 Appropriation Act from June.

Keyamo Urges Subsidy Advocates to Convince the Public

Taking to Twitter, Keyamo addressed subsidy advocates and urged them to convince the Nigerian people why President Tinubu should reintroduce something that the law has taken away.

He emphasized that those against the removal should provide convincing arguments that the $10 billion initially allocated for fuel subsidy would effectively stimulate the economy if channeled into other sectors.
