Comedian Jimmy Carr took a break from his comedy tour to enjoy some live football action in West London.
He was spotted among the crowd as Crystal Palace edged out Queens Park Rangers (QPR) 2-1 in a thrilling League Cup third-round match at Loftus Road.
Carr, best known for hosting 8 Out of 10 Cats, seemed to have a fantastic time, laughing and chatting with friends in the VIP area.
The 52-year-old comedian, dressed in a smart suit, took in the match from the front row of the Summix Capital Lounge, a premium hospitality suite at the stadium.
Though he’s known to be friends with QPR co-owner Amit Bhatia, it’s unclear if Carr was there as a guest or if he purchased his own ticket.
Eze Shines in Palace’s Victory Over QPR
The highlight of the match was undoubtedly the performance of Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, who was returning to face his former club.
Eze, who left QPR for Palace in a £17 million transfer in 2020, played a key role in both goals for his current team.
He assisted Eddie Nketiah’s opener and scored the match-winner, albeit with a bit of luck as his shot took a deflection.
Eze’s individual brilliance outshined his former teammates, leading Palace to victory despite a spirited QPR comeback.
Sam Field had equalized for QPR in the second half, but Eze’s deflected strike ensured Palace moved forward to the next round of the League Cup.
Football and Fine Dining in the Summix Capital Lounge
Jimmy Carr wasn’t the only famous face in the exclusive hospitality section that night.
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish and club legend Mark Bright were also in attendance.
The Summix Capital Lounge offers guests an upscale football experience, combining gourmet dining with top-tier views of the action.
For regular league games, tickets to this luxurious area start at £438 per person.
A Short but Sweet Night for Carr
Although Carr arrived just after the 7:45 pm kickoff, he didn’t stay for the full 90 minutes.
He made his way back to the indoor hospitality area during halftime and left the stadium around 9:30 pm, missing the final whistle.
But he likely left satisfied, having witnessed a lively match and a strong performance from his friend’s team.
Carr’s Busy Schedule Continues
While Carr’s appearance at the football was a fun diversion, the comedian remains in the middle of his “Jimmy Carr Laughs Funny” tour.
After his night at Loftus Road, he was set to perform in Leamington Spa the following evening, with upcoming shows in Scunthorpe, Skegness, and Harrogate.
Post-Match Reactions
After the game, Palace manager Oliver Glasner couldn’t stop praising Eze, calling him a “top player” and emphasizing his ability to create and score goals.
QPR manager Marti Cifuentes, despite the loss, expressed pride in his team’s effort.
He felt they performed admirably against Premier League opposition and showed they have what it takes to compete at a higher level.
Though QPR didn’t manage to pull off an upset, their determination and grit left fans hopeful for future matches.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace continues their League Cup journey, bolstered by the exceptional form of Eberechi Eze.
