Coach Jose Peseiro’s Critique of Super Eagles’ Performance
In a recent international friendly in Portugal, Coach Jose Peseiro’s Super Eagles faced off against Mozambique, emerging victorious with a 3-2 scoreline.
However, Peseiro didn’t hold back in criticizing his players for various aspects of their performance.
Super Eagles’ Victory Over Mozambique
The Super Eagles started the match on the back foot, with Mozambique taking the lead. But they quickly turned the tables with three first-half goals.
A fortunate turn of events for the Eagles was the red card shown to Mozambique’s Edmilson Dove, reducing them to ten men before halftime.
Struggles in the Second Half
Despite the numerical advantage, the Super Eagles struggled to maintain their lead in the second half, as Mozambique managed to pull one goal back before the game concluded.
Peseiro’s Displeasure with Player Performance
Coach Peseiro was not pleased with his players’ performance, particularly highlighting issues with their passing, crossing, and goal-scoring abilities.
He expressed his belief that they should have won by a larger margin, given the circumstances.
Peseiro’s Post-Match Comments
After the game, Peseiro shared his thoughts, saying, “First of all, I’m happy that after 15 friendly matches, we finally got a win for the first time in four years.”
He went on to express his disappointment with the team’s performance, noting that they lost concentration at some points and had too many poor passes, crosses, and finishes.
He emphasized, “We were better than this team (Mozambique). I think my players felt it was easy. I’m not happy with the performance of the players.
We didn’t manage the game well; we had too many poor passes, poor crosses, and poor finishing, which I don’t like.” Peseiro concluded by saying, “We should have scored more goals; we created so many chances to score say eight goals.
We played better than this performance; my players need to stay more concentrated.”
