FIFA Officially Revokes Chippa United’s Transfer Ban: Major Signings Await Fans
In a significant development ahead of the DStv Premiership second round, FIFA has officially lifted the transfer ban imposed on Chippa United.
The Gqeberha-based club was under restriction due to a dispute with defender Abdi Banda, who had not been compensated upon leaving the team last year.
However, with Banda now receiving the amounts owed to him, FIFA has closed the proceedings, and Chippa United is free to register new players.

Chippa United released an official statement expressing their pleasure at the removal of the transfer ban.
The club stated, “Chippa United Football Club is pleased to announce that the ban imposed by FIFA on signing both domestic and international players has been lifted.”
The club also teased fans by revealing preparations for the announcement of one or two major signings on the evening of January 26, 2024.
FIFA’s Confirmation: Resolution of Dispute and Lifting of Ban
In response to the developments, FIFA issued a statement acknowledging the resolution of the matter.
FIFA confirmed that Abdi Hassan Banda, the creditor, has now received the amounts owed by Chippa United, aligning with FIFA’s decision.
Consequently, FIFA declared the closure of proceedings against Chippa United and officially lifted the ban on registering new players.
The statement urged the South African Football Association to promptly lift the registration ban at the national level.
FIFA’s Clarification: Exclusive Ruling and Cooperation Request
FIFA clarified that the order to lift the registration ban was exclusively related to the ban imposed in accordance with the Decision, emphasizing that it does not prejudice any other registration ban currently in place.
The football governing body expressed gratitude for the cooperation in the matter and requested the immediate removal of the registration ban at the national level.
