Downpours at the Burning Man festival have left thousands of people stuck, and one person has died as a result.
After floods from storms rushed through the Nevada desert on August 27, festival organizers barred vehicle access to the event and urged guests to preserve food and water.
On Sunday, police stated someone died “during this rain event,” but they didn’t elaborate.
There was a complete halt to vehicle traffic on the playa because of rain over the past 24 hours, according to a statement released by the US Bureau of property Management, which oversees the property on which the event is held.
As the forecast states, “more rain is expected over the next few days, and conditions are not expected to improve enough to allow vehicles to enter the playa.”

The festival grounds, located roughly 110 miles north of Reno, saw more than half an inch of rain on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Predictions for Sunday call for at least another 0.25″ of precipitation.
The Reno Gazette Journal stated that ice sales were restricted and that vehicle movement had been halted at the massive event grounds, rendering the portable restrooms unusable.
Officials have not yet announced when the entry will be reopened, so it is unclear when guests will be able to exit the venue.
The pronouncements were made on the eve of the event’s climax, when a giant wooden effigy was scheduled to be burned on Saturday night.
