When Beyoncé’s Renaissance world tour took to the stage, one of the most unforgettable moments was her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, joining her.
For many fans, Blue Ivy’s appearances were among the most memorable highlights of the tour.
Blue Ivy Takes the Stage
Beyoncé’s 12-year-old daughter, whom she shares with Jay-Z, became a regular sight as the tour progressed from Europe to the United States between March and September 2023.
However, Beyoncé admitted that she initially hesitated about letting Blue Ivy join her onstage.
It wasn’t until May 26, during a performance at Stade De France in Saint Denis, that Blue Ivy surprised fans by dancing alongside her mother.
The duo performed “My Power” and “Black Parade,” a song inspired by the 2020 tragedy of George Floyd’s death.
Balancing Family and Fame
Beyoncé, who is known for keeping her personal and professional lives separate, opened up about her decision to let her eldest daughter take the spotlight.
In an interview with GQ’s October edition, she reflected on how Blue Ivy’s talent and enthusiasm led her to eventually share the stage.
“Blue is an artist. She has a great sense of music and fashion,” Beyoncé shared.
“She’s been creating characters since she was three, and though I was initially reluctant, she wanted this for herself and earned it. Most importantly, she had a blast!”
Touring with the Kids
Managing her family life alongside a demanding tour schedule is a balancing act for Beyoncé, who also has six-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir.
She revealed that the tour was planned to coincide with her children’s school holidays.
“I try to tour only when my kids are out of school,” she explained.
“I always dreamed of traveling with my family and exposing them to different cultures and experiences.”
She emphasized how important it is to keep her children’s lives as normal as possible while maintaining their privacy.
Staying True to Herself
Beyoncé also discussed her commitment to keeping her personal life separate from her public persona.
“I work hard to ensure my personal life isn’t turned into a brand,” she said.
“It’s easy for celebrities to turn our lives into performance art, but I strive to protect my peace and my family’s privacy.”
The Future of Beyoncé’s Music
Currently, Beyoncé is deep into her conceptual musical journey, having explored themes of black influence on disco in her 2021 album Renaissance and on country music in 2023’s Cowboy Carter.
While she’s keeping the details of her next project under wraps, she noted that the countdown to her next release will begin once she steps back from the spotlight.
“I only work on what liberates me,” she said.
“Fame can sometimes feel like a prison, so when I’m not visible, it’s because I’m focusing on creating art.”
Exploring New Passions
Aside from her music career, Beyoncé has a growing interest in whiskey.
“I love everything about whiskey—the color, the smell, the way it dances in the glass,” she said.
She’s excited about the idea of launching her own whiskey brand and enjoys introducing others to the spirit.
“Every bottle has a story, and I love sharing that with people who might not know they love whiskey yet.”
