Bethenny Frankel Faces Backlash for TikTok Remarks About Diversity in the Hamptons Community

Once again, Bethenny Frankel, known for her time on *The Real Housewives of New York*, has stirred up controversy.

This time, it’s due to a TikTok video she posted about the Hamptons, a popular seaside community in Long Island, New York.

In her TikTok, Bethenny, 53, aimed to share her thoughts on the Hamptons, stating that it’s not just a haven for the wealthy but also home to minorities.

“Hamptons is an amazing place, there’s all kinds of people here, it’s not only rich people,” she said.

“There is a big Latin community, there is an African American community here on the beach. Beautiful houses. I had a house there one summer.”

However, her remarks didn’t sit well with many. Followers quickly condemned her comments, labeling them as racially insensitive.

*The View* cohost Ana Navarro was among the first to respond, saying, “News flash: White people are not the only ones capable of having money.

There are rich Black people and rich ‘Latins.'”

One fan pointed out the exclusion of Asians and South Asians, noting, “I guess us Asians and South Asians don’t get to be Hamptons rich.

Meanwhile, we are the highest earners in the country, but what do I know?” Others criticized Bethenny for her ongoing display of what they called “white privilege.”

This incident comes just two weeks after Bethenny faced backlash for showing off a luxury car she bought to match her dress.

In an Instagram post, she posed with a new blue Ford Bronco while wearing a blue maxi dress, captioning it, “When you buy a car to match your outfit…”

Followers were quick to call her out for being tone-deaf, especially during a time when many are struggling financially.

Comments included, “People can’t even afford groceries right now and you’re posting this?” and “So tone-deaf do u really need to show off ur in the Hamptons & got a new car?”

Makeup Giveaway Controversy

Bethenny also faced criticism in September 2023 for a TikTok video where she gave away “leftover makeup” to T.J. Maxx employees.

In the video, she explained her gesture, saying, “The women who work here are so nice and they’re always complimenting me on what we buy… So I wanted to bring them some of the leftover makeup that I just tried, opened up, and put in a giveaway pile.”

However, the employee seemed hesitant, expressing concern about possibly getting in trouble for accepting gifts.

Social media users accused Bethenny of being out of touch and doing it for clout.

Reactions from Former Friends

Former *Real Housewives of New York City* castmate Carole Radziwill also criticized Bethenny’s actions, calling it a “white savior complex” on social media.

Carole and Bethenny were once close friends on the Bravo series, but their relationship deteriorated during the show’s 10th season.

Carole’s comment summed up the general sentiment: “Who sent this to me? Lol.

I mean stop this nonsense. So much to unpack but I’m not getting paid to do this any longer. But here…one ‘word’: #whitesaviorcomplex.”

Bethenny’s recent actions have clearly struck a nerve, leading to widespread backlash and calls for her to reevaluate her social media presence.
